Kendo

Kendo, "The way of the sword", is a traditional Japanese martial art, similar to fencing. Originally created to preserve the sword arts after the need for the samurai declined, it has become a popular martial art and sport in Japan, and is gaining popularity worldwide. Kendo is inclusive to all genders and levels of experience, and we welcome enquiries from those with a disability regarding the accessibility of Kendo.

Our Club | Oxford University Kendo Club

The club is open to new members of all levels, including beginners. No previous experience with martial arts or great level of fitness is required for beginners. No equipment is necessary to start. Kendo welcomes members of the local community to join. There are opportunities to compete with the club, including against Cambridge in an annual Varsity.
