BUCS stands for British Universities & Colleges Sport and is the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK. With an ambition to deliver exceptional sporting experiences that inspire, develop and unite, they currently host one of the best University sports programs in the world. There are currently more than 50 sports that take place under the BUCS banner providing a huge amount of competitive leagues and events for students to get involved in. 
 
 
Our students compete in some of the highest level of student sports and here at Oxford, we have over 60 teams competing in weekly leagues and many more who compete in event-based competitions throughout the season. Our team and individual performances also help add to our BUCS points total each year. This allows us to see where we rank amongst over 140 other institutions across England, Scotland and Wales.

  • 63 teams competing in league and cup competitions this year, completed 619 fixtures so far.  

  • BUCS Results Overall: Wins 296 (47.82%), Draw 22 (3.55%), Loss 301 (48.63%)  

  • 4 BUCS League Winners; Baseball Open 1st (South East 1A), Football Men's 2nd (Midlands 4A), Netball 1st (Midlands 2A), Netball 3rd (Midlands 4A)  

  • 3 BUCS Cup Finalists; Football Men’s 1st (Conference Cup Winners), Volleyball Men's 1st (National Trophy Runners Up), Squash Men’s 1st (Conference Cups Runners Up)  

  • Men’s Tennis 1st are win play-offs for promotion into Prem South

  • 667 individual students represent the University and their clubs individually across 53 different sporting events. There has also been 75 team entries within these events.  

  • 7 BUCS Individual Golds; Charlotte Buckley (Indoor Athletics - Women's 800m), Matt Coulson (Hill Climb - Men's Cycling), Georgia Acton (25 Mile Time Trial & 10 Mile Time Trial – Women’s Cycling), Hazel Wake (Championship Lightweight 1X – Women’s Regatta), Justin Leung (Men’s ITF Sparring 58KG), Alice Townsend (Women’s ITF Sparring 52KG)  

  • 4 BUCS Team Golds; Handball (Men’s Team), Hill Climb Cycling (Open Team), Archery Indoor (Women’s Overall Team) Championship Lightweight 4X (Men’s Regatta),  

  • 25, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in both team and individual events.
