When I threw a British Record at English Schools, or when I came 7th at the senior Müller British Athletics Championships.
Short Term Aspirations
I am aiming to throw 60m, increasing the Varsity Record whilst also looking forward to competing at my age group championships
Long Term Aspirations
Long term, I am hoping to develop enough to be competitive as a senior and start competing at international championships. Distance wise this would look like high 60s/70m plus.
How did you get into the sport?
As a young child, I went along to my local athletics track like many children. I tried throwing and happened to be asked to ‘have a go’ at hammer because my club needed people to be able to compete in the Youth Development League. Ever since this moment, I had a flare for the event and never looked back
What is your advice on balancing sport and academia?
Organisation. The only way to fit all your training in, work and have some time to yourself is to be efficient with your time, especially when your course has lots of contact time. Treat training as a non-negotiable in your day; it is good for your physical and mental health, enjoyable and can be sociable.
How have you managed training during lockdown?
During lockdown at home, I was fortunate enough to be able to throw. Strength training posed more of an issue, but I just did as much as I could with a modest set of weights. It was also a great opportunity to improve my fitness.
