Sports Federation offsets 61 tonnes of CO2 from sport related travel
Sports Clubs offset all CO2 emissions from sport related travel in the 2019/20 academic year
At the beginning of the 2019/20 academic year the Sports Federation had a goal to offset all carbon emissions as a result of travel for sporting activity. Club's unanimously agreed to a 40p increase in travel charges per trip to offset the carbon emissions. We are very glad to announce that, as a result of this initiative, Oxford University Sport offset all its 61 tonnes of CO2 in the 2019/20 academic year. This is over double what we offset in 2018/19 as we have expanded to offset against all journeys, not just those for BUCS travel.
The Sports Federation has a partnership with Climate Care to offset its CO2. This has been achieved through projects which tackle global climate change and improve people’s lives simultaneously.
