Women’s Rugby Union Club

Women’s Rugby Union

We are OURFC Women! Whether you have been playing rugby for years, or if you want to just try a new sport at University, we are the club for you! We normally train twice a week, with additional fitness sessions, and field two teams, the Blues and the Panthers.

Our first team, the Blues, plays in the competitive BUCS Premier South Division. This year we finished 5th in our league and won the final for the BUCS Vase. Since 2015, the Women’s Blues have played in a double header Varsity Match at Twickenham with the Men’s Blues, and are current Varsity Match champions. Our Panthers team plays a series of friendlies throughout the season to give new players plenty of game time, culminating in a varsity match against the Cambridge Tigers in March. We also run women’s rugby cuppers at the end of Hilary term, with the final taking place on Cuppers Super Finals Day in Trinity term.

Our coaching team is made up of World Cup winning coach Gary Street, and Harlequins coach Ali Mortimore. Having such experienced coaches allows us to train players at all levels, from complete beginners to those with more playing experience. Current players also play for county, championship and premiership sides.
