New-Build Adjustment, Nov 2016
Whilst Beard, our contractors, were carrying out demolition work on the site, they came across a protected species of newt. We have alerted the relevant authorities, who will ensure the newts are safely removed from the site. Whilst this action is being undertaken, work associated with the overall development is still in progress, with plans being adjusted to ensure that the relevant environmental issues can be accomodated-for. Permission has now been granted to commence work to the new sports hall which will start immediately.

Due to essential work required to proceed with the phase 1 redevelopment, we will lose heating for the pool from Mon 12 Dec for 5 days. We will increase the pool temperature throughout 10th/11th December to attempt to minimize disruption, however it is likely that the 14th, 15th and 16th will see a drop in temperature. Please call reception for daily updates.
As you will be aware, our construction project at Iffley Road includes refurbishment of the women’s wetside changing rooms. We are extremely keen to ensure that the upgraded changing facilities will be available for use from September 2017 and, in order to speed up internal building works to meet this deadline, all wetside changing will be transferred to a new area during this week (originally Tuesday 06 December and subject to change).
During the upgrade, alternative changing, showering and toilet facilities of a high specification will be located on the area adjacent to the running track – between the bungalow and the pool. The facilities will provide separate rooms for male and female swimmers and a passage will be created to allow direct access onto poolside. Please ensure your membership card is up-to-date because access will be controlled by a swipe system. The cycle racks currently in the location will be moved to the concrete area running alongside the pool.
