Hire Scheme banner




The Scheme is designed to ensure that student clubs registered with the Proctors have access to an adequate supply of good quality minibuses, MPVs (‘people carriers’) and cars at competitive prices. Vehicles are hired under special terms agreed with two local hire companies - Hotsons Eurodrive and Target.

The scheme is open to Clubs/Societies or Sports Teams registered with the Proctors.

The Sports Federation must be notified of every trip that takes place with a hire vehicle via the trip registration form.

In order to hire a minibus on the scheme, drivers must:


 Minibus
  • Be aged 21 or over
  • Have held a full, clean, UK category B (car)/ EU driving licence for a minimum of 2 years. (minor endorsements may be acceptable under certain conditions - but must be declared)
  • Successfully complete the Minibus Driver Assessment/Training Course.

In order to hire an MPV on the scheme, drivers must:

  • Be aged 19 or over.
  • Have held a UK/ EU car driving licence for a minimum of 1 year. (minor endorsements may be acceptable under certain conditions - but must be declared)
  • Successfully complete the MPV Driver Assessment/Training Course.
  • Or be an already qualified Minibus driver.

    Courses cost £20 per driver (University Clubs and Societies) £37 (departments). To book an assessment email The Sports Federation.
