OUSD duty manager and fitness instructor Richard Rees took to the ring on December 6th in his 5th semi-professional Muay Thai fight. Nearly 400 people, including 7 OUSD staff members, were in attendance at the Leamington Spa Assembly Rooms for the Thai Warriors Fight Night.
After 5 rounds the decision was made on points, and despite taking a lot of punishment from some brutal low kicks to his left leg, Rees triumphed with a unanimous points win with good scoring knees, takedowns, and kicks to the body.
The win takes Rees to an overall record of 4-1, currently sitting on a 4-fight win streak. He will be looking to step up an experience class in the coming year, and is likely to have his next fight in August of 2015. If his next 2 fights are successful, he could be in with a title shot, and so we wish him the best of luck for the coming year!
