Oxford University student Sophia Saller claims 10th at the ITU Junior Women’s World Championship in London (12th September)
Ex-OUTri Club President Hannah Johnston 6th in 20-24 Female Age Group Sprint, 2013 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final, London (13th September)
Sophia has performed consistently well this year and achieving a top ten in the world for the Under 20 age group caps an incredible year for the German OU Triathlon Club athlete! Finishing in 58 min 56 secs it was her quickest race to date at this level despite the very wet conditions.
Speaking to us ahead of the race Sophia sums up her achievements this Summer,
“A week after exams I was racing my very first Senior European Cup in Holland and came away with a 6 place, I would have been happy with a top 20 finish! In July I raced in the German U20 Triathlon Championships and managed to win by almost two minutes which meant I also qualified for this in London. I’m really excited because it will be almost like a home-race as I study here and my family has recently moved over from Germany!”
Sophia will be hoping to continue progressing into next season when she leaves the Junior grades to start competing at the next level.

Hannah finished in 01:15:58 to take 6th spot just a second behind fellow Brit Emily Whitmore! Hannah was particularly proud to be the first out of the water to the transition after the swim. Highlighting her swim strength, she had the fastest swim time of all female age-group triathletes in the world!
