Oxford students win gold, silver and bronze at this year’s BUCS Small Boats Head Championship 2013
- Gold – Constantine Louloudis, MC1x (Male C Grade Single Scull)
- Silver – Karl Hudspith, MC1x (Male C Grade Single Scull)
- Bronze – Anastasia Chitty, WC1x (Female C Grade Single Scull)
All three rowers add their medal to their own experienced backgrounds, including winning Boat Race’s for Oxford, and representing GB at Junior or Senior Level.
Hudspith (St. Peter’s) was previously OUBC President and Louloudis (Trinity College) adds this gold to his Bronze Olympic medal at London 2012 in the Men’s Eight.
Anastasia (Pembroke) adds this to her haul from the Youth Olympics in Australia earlier this year
Members of the Men’s and Women’s Boat Clubs attended the event as part of their training for their respective Boat Races, which nicely coincided with support of the event by British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS).
The results extracted from the GBRT 1st Assessment at Boston contributed to the overall university standings and placed medallists. Oxford scored 25 points overall, placing us 2nd in the event’s medal table.
It is the first time in many years OUBC squad members have raced at a BUCS event, joining OUWBC and both Lightweight crews who all medalled last year in BUCS regattas.
National student rowing events are very well attended and incredibly competitive, so it is great to see when our university clubs, whose season focus are understandably on their massive Varsity events, go and show their power on the national university stage!
