The V150 campaign is delighted to announce the launch of new funds available to Oxford University students involved in sport.
One of the principal objectives of the V150 campaign, to mark the 150th anniversary of Vincent’s Club, was that “…the Club should have a role at the centre of Oxford sport, contributing to its governance, helping university sports bodies to encourage sportsmen and sportswomen to apply to Oxford and assisting in funding them.”
The generous donations from alumni members will fund four scholarships or bursaries each worth £2,500 annually. These are as follows:
- 2 Vincent’s Scholarships/Bursaries
- 1 Vincent’s Mark Lawrence Scholarship
- 1 Vincent’s William S Broadbent Jr. Scholarship
“Philanthropic support of scholar athletes is a top priority of our family, and we are delighted to support Vincent’s Club athletes with the William S Broadbent Jr. Scholarship..” – William S Broadbent Sr.
The Vincent’s Awards are open now to all students of Oxford University.
Applications must be received by 16 July 2014 and successful candidates will be informed shortly after the selection committee has met.
“Vincent’s Club is a wonderful institution and was a central part of Mark’s sporting and university life. I am thrilled to be able to endow the Vincent’s Mark Lawrence Scholarship as part of this important Award Scheme in Mark’s memory, and trust that it will help and encourage talented sportsmen and women to achieve their sporting ambitions and potential at Oxford.” – Heather Lawrence
