A little bit about us:
Oxford university is one of the premier academic institutions in the world and within that OUHC is the largest mixed sports club in the University. We run 4 men’s and 3 women’s teams. The 1st teams are both known as “the Blues”, with the women playing in the highest possible University league, and the men playing one tier below the top. The men’s 2s/ 3s/ 4s are known as the Occasionals, the Infrequents and the Sporadics respectively and the women’s 2s/ 3s are known as the Radicals and the Mavericks.
OUHC is a unique and exciting challenge with players fully committed to progressing both their hockey and their academics. This combination has led to hard working teams consistently punching above their weight. A particular highlight of the OUHC experience is The Varsity Match; a competition between Oxford and Cambridge which has gone on for 120 years. It is a fixture held in high prestige and this year was watched via live-stream by over 7000 people.
The pay rate we are currently looking at is £30-50 per hour depending on experience, qualifications etc as well as travel expenses on top. Per team there is 6 hours of coaching per week available, and where logistically possible up to 12 hours should you coach both teams.
We have a coach for both 2s teams who will be able to assist you where logistically possible. We have a University funded S+C programme which is run once a week, compulsory for all players. In terms of video analysis, we are currently pushing for the university to invest in an online platform, otherwise all video analysis is done by the individual team using go-pros.
This will consist of preparing and delivering a training session to one or both of our current teams. As well as interview with a member of the Hockey Club and a member of Oxford University Staff. The time frame is flexible but we are aiming to hold interviews in mid-late June.
