Classes are suitable for all levels of fitness! If you have any health conditions check with your doctor or please see a member of staff for information on what is involved in each class before signing up.

How to Book

To book onto classes you must first activate your ‘Fitness Classes Access Card’, which is FREE for Oxford University students and staff and only £5.95* for community and concessions members. Visit our memberships and activity passes page and select your membership status to find out how to activate your card.

Once activated, you can then book individual classes online, at Iffley Road Sports Centre reception or by contacting our reception team by phone on 01865 611476. Book individual classes now using the button below: –

Cost and Payment Options – New Membership Options for 2019

Access to fitness classes is available via membership, activity pass or on a pay as you go basis. Further information on membership options and activity passes can be found by visiting our memberships and activity passes page and selecting your membership status. Classes can also be paid for on a pay as you go basis for £5.00 per class.

Cancellations

A credit note or refund can be arranged if you cancel a class and give at least 24 hours’ notice, unfortunately no refund can be offered with less notice and bookings cannot be transferred. It can take up to 2 weeks for a refund to appear in your account.

Aqua Fit Description

Low impact water-based exercise class held in the crystal clear water of the Rosenblatt Pool. The combination of aerobic and strength-building exercises is suitable for all levels of fitness and swimming abilities. The exercises may be suitable for those recovering from injury (check with your GP first). During the class, the pool is open for aqua fit only.

Charlie says: “I was easily able to adapt the exercises to my own needs, and found exercising in the pool to be refreshing and invigorating.”

Bodypump Description

Bodypump is a weights class for absolutely everyone. This form of weight training will make you toned, lean and fit.

Using light-to-moderate weights with lots of repetition, Bodypump gives you  a total body workout that burns lots of calories. It’ll also tone and shape your body, without adding bulky muscles. The rep effect – a scientifically proven Les Mills formula – is the secret to developing lean athletic muscle without the need for heavy weights.

The encouragement, motivation and great music you get in a Bodypump class will help you achieve much more than you would be able to on your own! Instructors will show you all the moves and techniques to make your first class safe and fun!

Box Fit Description

An effective and fun form of exercise suitable for all ages and levels of ability! Workout like a boxer (without the fighting!), using a wide range of equipment.

Circuits Description

Push your body to its limits around a circuit of different exercise stations! Each exercise is performed for fifty seconds until a ten second break before moving onto the next. Class members workout at each station at any pace they like (choosing their own speed and/or reps), within the time for the entire group to complete the circuit. The aim is for the class to be accessible to all, whatever ability! Classes are held both indoors and outdoors.

HIIT Description

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This is a great full body conditioning session that will keep you heart rate raised for hours after the class.

Stages Circuits Description

A hybrid of a traditional indoor cycle class and weighted bag exercises (performed off the bike). An intense cardio workout from the cycling is interspersed with a full body workout from the weighted bags (explosive/push/pull/rotation/core).

Track your intervals on our top-of-the-range Stages bikes. The session is a high intensity 30 min sweat fest, so you’ll need to remember your towel and a drink for this one too! This is a timed session – clock starts at 10 past. Don’t be late!

Yoga Description

A dynamic and flowing yoga class that combines breath and movement to build strength, flexibility and balance both in the body and mind.

All levels welcome.

Roosa Leimu-Brown is a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and dance artist with over 30 years of experience in working with anatomy, physiology, movement and breath through diverse training and teaching in yoga and dance. She has been practising yoga for nearly 20 years. She trained as a yoga teacher in Finland has been teaching since 2002. She is also a qualified yoga therapist (300h) and pregnancy yoga and yoga nidra teacher.

 

 

ZUMBA® Description

ZUMBA® takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.

A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.
