Construction to begin on new Indoor Sports Centre

Construction to begin on new Indoor Sports Centre

Posted on: August 8th, 2016

With the Olympics underway it is very fitting that we can announce some good news about the Indoor Sports Centre, named for late Olympian Dr Acer Nethercott.

Our alumni and friends have come together in their hundreds with gifts both large and small – and their generosity means that the University has now given the green light for the project to begin.

Building is therefore scheduled to begin towards the end of this month and completed in time for Michaelmas 2017.

We will be posting regular updates on this blog marking the key milestones throughout the construction programme, so look out for our next progress report in a couple of weeks when we break ground!

For those of you who are new to Oxford, the Acer Nethercott Sports Hall will double the size of indoor space available for sport, with an extra 4 court sports hall, along with a multi-purpose activity room, the Gallie-Lewis-Dean Gym, for training and classes such as spinning.
