Oxford University Sport’s main complex is located off Iffley Road, South East of Oxford city centre.

University Parks and Marston Road Sports Ground host further excellent outdoor facilities, managed by the Sports Department.

bike-128Walking and Cycling

Preferred method for students and locals alike! Access via our pedestrian path from the Iffley Road (almost opposite Marston Street) or take the car route down Jackdaw Lane off the Iffley Road.

Please dismount your bike to avoid any accidents. Cycle racks are located adjacent to the athletics track (accessed via the pool footpath) and the area of the carpark nearest reception. Please make sure you lock your bike securely (D-Lock is recommended), only to cycle racks and not site handrails and barriers.

Our nearest train station is Oxford. Exit the railway station and turn right towards the main road. Catch either the 4A, 4B or 4C bus from the Frideswide Square stop to travel in the direction of Rose Hill. Disembark at the James Street stop on Iffley Road or Cowley Road.

Buses run regularly along Iffley Road (No. 3), and nearby Cowley Road (1, 5, 10, 12) and to St. Clement’s (X13, 4A, Oxford Tube, X90) which are all within walking distance.

The most convenient bus is the Stagecoach 3 or N3 bus which runs between the city centre and Iffley Road. Get off at the James Street stop on Iffley Road and walk down to us.

Park and Ride

Travelling from the North – park at Redbridge Park and Ride. Take the bus towards the city centre or walk straight to the sports complex (15 mins).

Travelling from the South or London – use Thornhill Park and Ride, take the bus to St. Clements and walk to the sports complex (10 mins).

Car

The entrance for cars is located through Jackdaw Lane off the Iffley Road. Keep an eye out for the ‘single lane’ right turn into Oxford University Sport (the second right hand turn – after Bannister close). Our closest SatNav postcode for the car park is OX4 1SR.

From the north, head south on the M1 to junction 15a then exit onto A43 and take the M40 south until J9. Exit at J9 and take A41/A34 Oxford and head towards Cowley and Henley. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Southern By-Pass Rd/A423. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Abingdon Rd/A4144. Turn right onto Weirs Lane /B4495 and continue to follow B4495. Turn left onto Iffley Rd/A4158 and then turn left onto Jackdaw Lane.

From London, take the M40 from the M25 towards Birmingham/Oxford/Beaconsfield. Exit at J8 onto the A40 towards Oxford/Chelthenham. At Headington roundabout continue straight over (2nd exit) onto the London Rd/A420 towards Headington. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Iffley Rd/A4158 and then turn right onto Jackdaw Lane.

From the south, head north on the A34 (or take J13 from the M4, and head north on the A34 towards Oxford). Take the exit A4144/Oxford/Ring Road. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Southern By-Pass Rd/A423. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Abingdon Rd/A4144. Turn right onto Weirs Lane /B4495 and continue to follow B4495. Turn left onto Iffley Rd/A4158 and then turn left onto Jackdaw Lane.

Parking

Due to very limited space, parking is for permit-holders only. Permits are provided for members of the sports complex, which can be applied-for at reception. Temporary and limited 3-hour permits may be approved for site bookings. Vehicles must not be left in the carpark overnight. Fines will be issued for invalid parking.

This limited carparking can accomodate approximately 40 vehicles. 2 additional spaces are reserved for disabled blue badge holders.

Nearby short-stay parking facilities are located within a short walk, but may require drivers to ‘pay and display': 

  • Iffley Road
  • James Street
  • Bullingdon Road
  • Cowley Road
  • Union Street

There is no access for coaches and minibuses, nor space for turning around/dropping-off on Jackdaw Lane. Coach and minibus drivers must drop-off on Iffley Road and park at the dedicated council coach parking provision at:

  • Oxpens Car and Coach Park OX1 1RQ (beside Oxford Ice Rink)
  • Redbridge Park and Ride OX1 4XG

Our car park is locked outside of opening hours and vehicles are non-retrievable during closed periods.
